Webmaster Radio Interview - Greg Hoffman

Several weeks ago I was interviewed by Lisa Picarille and Sam Harrelson on the Affiliate Thing show at WebMaster Radio. Shawn Collins is usually the co-host with Lisa but he was out that day.

They wanted to hear about my new position at Kowabunga. It was a little nerve racking but pretty cool. I did better than last year's PrWeb podcast when Thompson & Co. chose Vocus as our PR tool provider.

I like Detroit Already - They have White Castle

Krystal cheeseburgers don't have anything on White Castle cheeseburgers

I'm here in Detroit to meet my new Kowabunga family and as Johnny V was driving me to my hotel, I spotted a long-awaited site. A White Castle. If I wasn't with a new and respected co-worker, I might have shed a tear.

My father introduced me to slyders from White Castle at an early age while visiting family in Chicago. In fact, its the reason I don't eat egg salad sandwiches. See, we went to the White Castle on Indianapolis Blvd. in Hammond, Ind. Besides the fact that the ugliest people I had ever seen were at that location, we ate cheeseburger slyders until we were stuffed beyond reason.

Then we went back to my great-aunt's house, where she diligently made us her special egg salad sandwiches. We were obligated to eat them and my father probably had to threaten me to finish mine. Therefore, I don't eat egg-salad sandwiches anymore. But I sure love White Castle slyders.

Tonight I had 8 slyders and two Jalepeno slyders. Don't be fooled. The cheese is flavored jalepeno. Very disappointing. I wanted to sink my teeth into some juicy jalepenos. No such luck. And the hot sauce they dispensed was very mild. We have ketchup at home that is hotter.

So I'm happy to report that 45 minutes after leaving White Castle, I'm still healthy and alive. No signs of digestive interuptus. Let's hope it stays that way.

Now I can't wait to try out their breakfast meals. Muwahahahaha...

Check out the Kowabunga Blogs

One of my new tasks here at Think Partnership is to overhaul the blogs set up for Kowabunga. It isn't an overnight job, it will take a few months to develop the right look and feel for each blog and work with the content experts to come up with a strategy for posting. You'll see that some of them haven't been updated in a while.

The affiliate team members have done a great job getting the blogs up and running and I'm so happy I don't have to start from scratch like the last two business blogs I started - The Security Awareness for Ma, Pa and the Corporate Clueless blog for Winn Schwartau and Cigar Blog 101 for Thompson Cigar.

So bookmark these blogs from Kowabunga and keep an eye on them in the coming months.

Think Partnership’s KowaBunga! Affiliate Tracking and Management Solution with ValidClick Click Fraud Protection Selected by Microsoft

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Think Partnership Inc. (AMEX:THK), an international leader in interactive performance-based marketing and related Internet technologies, today announced that Microsoft Corp. has chosen a technology and services package from Think Partnership including the KowaBunga!® MYAP™ v9 (MyAffiliateProgram™) affiliate tracking and management solution and the ValidClick click fraud technology to launch and manage the affiliate networks of its Online Services Group.

By integrating the patent-pending ValidClick click fraud detection technology directly into the KowaBunga! MYAP v9 platform, Think Partnership is able to offer clients, like Microsoft, the ability to reward affiliates for sales, leads, downloads and even clicks without the concern of fraudulent traffic sabotaging the success of the program.

Think Partnership has customized the KowaBunga! MYAP v9 platform for Microsoft, allowing it to create unique, yet integrated, fraud-protected affiliate programs for each of its product lines. The Windows Live OneCare program will be the first affiliate program launched in this new Microsoft-branded Affiliate Network, and will implement KowaBunga! Affiliate Management. It will allow affiliates of this program to earn commissions by referring customers to the Windows Live OneCare package, an all-in-one security and performance for your PC including antivirus, antispyware, anti-phishing, firewall, performance tune-ups and backup and storage.

Microsoft’s customized technology and service package includes:

* The functionality of an affiliate network platform for ease in managing separate, yet integrated programs.
* Licensing and utilization of Think Partnership’s ValidClick technology for fraud detection and prevention.
* Integration with Windows Live ID.
* Direct links from affiliate sites to Microsoft’s online properties.
* Complete Microsoft-branded affiliate management, including recruitment, support and payment by Think Partnership’s team.
* Inclusion in KowaBunga’s affiliate network.

“Microsoft has joined a number of our marquee clients in choosing KowaBunga!,” said Scott P. Mitchell, Think Partnership’s president and chief executive officer. “Our solution provides Microsoft with benefits they were unable to find among the competition. This includes the ability to customize the technology to fit their specific strategy, fraud protection using our patent-pending ValidClick technology and the ability to maintain ownership of the relationships created with affiliates.”

“We expect these programs could add a substantial stream of revenue to Microsoft,” continued Mitchell, “as we combine Microsoft’s strong brand names with the proven power of KowaBunga’s affiliate marketing capabilities to create extraordinary results.”

Besides an initial setup fee, this service is performance based, as Think Partnership shares a percentage of the revenue generated by the affiliate network.

For more information about the KowaBunga! MyAP v9 solution, please visit www.myap.com or call 888-224-6565. For more information about the ValidClick click fraud detection and protection technology, please visit www.validclick.com or call 800-583-1680.

Price Changes at Kowabunga "Positive Sign" for Affiliate Industry

Brook Schaaf writes in ReveNews yesterday:

The word to associate with the My Affiliate Program - and their competitive advantage - is "customization." According to sources inside the company, this is how they won Microsoft's business. At the same time, their competitive disadvantage is being outside a network affiliates frequent looking for new programs and updated links.

MyAP has been around a long time and has a good reputation so I figure they'll do well. I think this is a positive sign for the industry.
