PR for PR - A Vocus Press Release

Thompson Group Selects Vocus On-Demand Software to Enhance Public Relations Results

Company also leverages PRWeb’s SEO and Web 2.0 capabilities for comprehensive news distribution.

Lanham, MD (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- Vocus, Inc., (NASDAQ: VOCS) a leading provider of on-demand software for corporate communications and public relations, announced today that Thompson Group (Thompson) has selected Vocus public relations software to help manage and automate its public relations efforts. The Vocus solution will enable Thompson to expand its media outreach efforts, generate more coverage and better utilize PR to drive bottom-line results.

Thompson is comprised of four companies, each with a distinct clientele. Its four primary business lines offer something for everyone: from designer linens to fashion apparel to premium cigars, gourmet coffee and specialty foods. Greg Hoffman, Public Relations Manager, Thompson Group, sought a solution with a robust, up-to-date database to effectively target and reach journalists in each of the company’s areas of focus.
“Vocus had the most complete database available to help us manage our media contacts,” said Hoffman. “Selecting an integrated solution like Vocus also allows us to track the effectiveness of our public relations efforts.”

As a PRWeb customer, Hoffman is also thrilled by the prospect of the integration of PRWeb capabilities into the Vocus suite of PR management solutions. Thompson is an online retailer seeking to build awareness and PRWeb’s search engine optimized (SEO) distribution has enabled Hoffman to reach buyers and consumers directly.

"Cigar lovers tend to get a lot of their information from blogs,” says Hoffman. “The integration of PRWeb’s press release services into the Vocus solution will enable me to maximize my news distribution. I can target the most accurate and comprehensive list of media contacts and at the same time, with PRWeb services, I am able to reach the cigar-lovers directly through the blogs. It’s a really powerful combination.”

Vocus provides an integrated on-demand software suite for PR professionals. The Vocus on-demand software suite manages media and analyst relationships; interactive email campaigns; projects and news; files, documents and other collateral; and online newsrooms. The software also analyzes media coverage and other PR information to provide real-time feedback on the effectiveness of PR campaigns and early intelligence on trends unfolding in the press.

“For growing organizations, building awareness and getting their news seen and heard can be a daunting task,” said Bill Wagner, Chief Marketing Officer of Vocus, Inc. “Vocus PR software enables even the smallest organizations to reap the benefits of effective public relations. With the integration of PRWeb, we are taking our distribution capabilities one step further, enabling all our customers to benefit from search engine optimized press releases and direct-to-consumer distribution as part of a complete PR management solution.”

My company is considering using Vocus, but I want to find out more about its possible downside. It seems like a very comprehensive and powerful service, but what is the catch?

Does anyone out there know what we should be wary of when it comes to Vocus?
